LAST CALL WITH CARSON DALY 11/18/2004
Tony Danza, Nia Long, Ghetto and Blues. As they go to commercial after the interview, you can see Nia Long point out to Carson Daly that her feet didn’t touch the ground when she sat on the couch.
Carson Daly: You know our next guest from movies like Friday, Big Momma’s House, and Boiler Room. Now you can check her opposite Jude Law in Alfie. It’s in theaters now. Say hi to the lovely Nia Long.
Carson: It’s been so cool just reading up on you and your career and where it’s come and if you really sort of --- and not that many people know where it started but, let me just say that it’s amazing. I’m really happy for you. And I think you’re a fantastic actress and how are things with Third Watch?
Nia Long: Third Watch is great. I just had to cover up a big bruise on my arm backstage ‘cause I had a major fight scene this week and uh…
Carson: Were you fighting another cop? Who were you fighting?
Nia: I’m actually--- I am, as of right now, the rat. I don’t know if there are any Third Watch watchers out there, but I am the rat on the show and they got me good between the bad guys and the other cops. I’m--- I’m--- Sasha’s having problems.
Carson: Third Watch is one of the rare shows, and this might scare middle America, NYPD Blue doesn’t actually shoot in New York.
Nia: Right.
Carson: Third Watch is a true New York show.
Nia: It is. It is.
Carson: You guys shoot all over. We see the production everywhere in Manhattan.
Nia: And it’s great because it’s really like guerilla filmmaking. It’s about the work. There’s no glitz. There’s no glam. There’s no getting manicures. I don’t even bother getting manicures--- I did today for you though.
Carson: Well, fantastic and they look lovely. Look at that. Does it help? I was thinking with the New York cops and just you being an actress like when you’re sort of like off duty and you’re not working and you get in some altercation, does that help?
Nia: Absolutely. I remember last Christmas I was driving and I made an illegal right turn and as I made the turn I saw like ten cops on the corner and I was like "I’m Nia Long please don’t give me a ticket" and they pulled me over and they--- "Oh, you play Sasha Monroe on Third Watch, we love you." And I didn’t get a ticket and it was the greatest thing. I actually have a get out of jail---
Carson: New York City, the most dangerous town right now and "I’m on Third Watch." "Hey, go ahead."
Nia: I have a little card and it’s like a get out of free jail card.
Carson: That is awesome.
Nia: Yeah, it’s good.
Carson: At least somebody’s utilizing that. Good for you.
Nia: I love my life.
Carson: Let’s talk about Alfie. This things, uh, there’s more advertising for this movie than I think anything I’ve ever seen. Jude Law has just been everywhere.
{they go on to talk a bit about Alfie}
